Cantamus a cappella choir

Cantamus is musically a tightly knit choir with a good balance and blend of voices, which we are keen to maintain. We are looking for musicality, the ability to read music, hold a line alone within the group and blend with the rest of the choir.

We do not have formal auditions but we do invite prospective members to join us for a rehearsal or two to see how well they fit musically and if they enjoy singing with us. Our rehearsals are on Tuesday nights at 7.30 pm in the village hall in Newbold on Stour.

Shipston on Stour Twinning Association

Shipston is twinned with Torigni-sur-Vire in Normandy, France and twinning visits take place in England and France alternate years.

We usually travel by coach to France and a full and varied programme is arranged for the time spent with our French hosts. Living the French way of life for a few days is a fantastic experience and lasting friendships have been made over the years.

The ability to speak French is not essential as many of our French families speak English well. We have many French host families wishing to twin and often not enough host families in Shipston and the surrounding area.

We are a friendly group and welcome new members. Please get in touch if you would be interested in joining us – we would love to hear from you.

Stour Singers

Stour Singers was formed as a community choir in 1975 as part of Shipston High School’s adult education programme.  There were originally only 15 members (of whom 1 still remains), but it was a balanced mixed choir able to perform part-songs and four-part arrangements.  The following year it had doubled in size and acquired its present name.  It has continued to grow and mature under the dedicated and skilled direction of its founder, Richard Emms.

All rehearsals are held on Thursday evenings from 7.30pm until 9.30pm, in the Hall at Shipston Primary School in Station Road, Shipston-on-Stour.  See below for directions on how to find us.
