Date and time
–
We warmly invite all members of our community, parade participants, veterans and spectators alike, to gather on the High Street from 10am.
The parade, led with dignity by the Town Band, will step off promptly at 10:45am.
As in previous years, we will come together in Church Street, in front of the War Memorial, to lay wreaths, read aloud the names of the Fallen, and observe the two-minute silence in remembrance of those who lost their lives in the service of their country, particularly during the two World Wars and in subsequent conflicts, and for those who returned.
The service will then continue at St Edmund’s Church. Please note that, due to financial constraints, the service will not be live-streamed this year. Following the service, the parade will return to Church Street.
After the formalities, all are warmly welcomed to join the RBL at The Horseshoe for a time of fellowship and reflection.
Further details will be shared via social media channels of the SRBL, St Edmund’s and the Town Council, as well as on the SRBL noticeboard in The Bury.
If you know someone who isn’t online, please do pass this information along.
Road Closures – Temporary road closures will be in place from 0900-1230 to facilitate the parade, and we kindly ask everyone to plan ahead and show appreciation to the Lions and local Police, who will be marshalling the event. A big thank you to Richard Synge and Eazylay Concrete who will be providing trucks to act as security barriers, without which the parade would not be allowed to happen due to the UK national security level.
Lost children and first aid – Two small Lion’s marquees will be erected close to Morrisons where lost children should be instructed to go to and first aid can be received.
