Shipston residents made Christmas wishes for the town’s future at the Victorian Evening, as part of the ongoing campaign to encourage community participation in the Neighbourhood Plan.
As well as raising over £200 for Shipston Rotary charities by selling mulled wine and mince pieces, Neighbourhood Plan volunteers encouraged everyone to record their Christmas wish for Shipston. Comments posted ranged from demands for a bigger health centre, sweet and cake shops, extended library hours, a petrol station, more parks and open spaces as well as wishes for and against a supermarket.
The feedback will continue to inform the Neighbourhood Plan as the four topic groups get to grips with key priorities. Results from the Housing Survey conducted last month are due back late January which will also help inform the next phase of the plan.
The Neighbourhood Plan team has also been successful in securing funding for a project manager to help drive the plan forward and set an achievable timescale for completion of a draft plan. The team is now looking to recruit a suitable person for the role.
