We are all devastated to hear the very sad news that Alison Henderson has lost her long battle with illness. Alison and Richard moved to Shipston in 2007 in the middle of our floods and she had to spend the first few months of her time here living in Great Wolford whilst her house dried out. Once firmly in the Town, she soon began to get involved in all things Shipston and joined the Town Council as a wise (not so old) sage. She was particularly adept at helping with the finances due to her corporate finance background, but also through a very eloquent vocabulary helped extensively with our communications. Due to issues abroad she had to stand down from the council in 2010, but once that was resolved came back to help out again. It was in 2017 when deputy Mayor that illness once again forced her to stand down, which is a tremendous shame as Shipston would have surely benefited from her
charismatic nature as Mayor.
Through the pandemic and after, Ali and Richard remained active in the town. She will be fondly remembered by all the Town Councillors past and present who were on the council with her, and severely missed by Shipston. Ali Henderson, one of our true characters.
