Shipston Community First Responders has installed new Public Access Defibrillators (PADS) outside Shipston Town Council and Shipston Rugby Club. Defibrillators are already in place at The George Townhouse, Shipston Leisure Centre and The Ellen Badger Hospital.
These PADs hold an Automated External Defibrillator and Resuscitation face mask for use in a Cardiac Arrest Emergency. PAD site defibrillators can be used by anyone and no prior training is required, although the team has offered to provide training for local groups or businesses if needed.
Stuart Eastbury (pictured right, with Dan Scobie) from Shipston Community First Responders said: “Living in a rural area means equipment like this is vital. If someone is in cardiac arrest, time is of the essence – evidence shows that the sooner a defib is used, the more chance of a positive outcome. These defibrillators will help ensure people in our community receive urgent care much more quickly.”
The PADs have been paid for by the First Responders thanks to successful fundraising and support from the local community. The plan is to install a further three defibrillators in the town.
The PADS were installed with the kind support of Lee Williams from LGW Electrical Services who installed the defibrillators free of charge.
