Plans for a river walk in Shipston as well as a new tourist information centre could become a reality thanks to new funding.
A new grant fund has been made available from Warwickshire County Council, offering matched funding for substantial schemes designed to promote tourism and leisure in rural towns across the county. Organisations are invited to submit bids for projects from £35,000 to £100,000 by January 2018.
The team developing plans for a riverside walk and improved picnic areas will be working with the Shipston Area Flood Action Group to consider how to introduce a footbridge, providing access to the Shakespeare Way from Mill Street car park.
In addition, the Tourism Group is looking at whether to apply for funding to establish a tourist information centre in the town.
Councillors are in the very early stages of looking at ideas, and proposals are likely to be developed over the summer/autumn. Look out for further updates in the Shipston Forum.
