All change in local government

Warwickshire is to have two unitary authorities. Stratford District and Warwick District will combine as South Warwickshire Authority, and elections will be held next May.

‘Splitting our historic county is sad, but fi nancially will be better for us in the south,’ says our local County Councillor Jo Barker, while District Councillor Olivia Hatch called it ‘good news for democracy.’

Local MP Manuela Perteghella, who had been campaigning for a South Warwickshire unitary since the beginning of the Local Government reorganisation process said it would ‘deliver the best value services for people across my constituency and respect the geography of the area.’
