After over 25 years of being held on a Friday, the Rotary has decided to move the annual Victorian Evening, and this year it will be held on Sunday 29 November from 2-6pm in the town centre.
‘The size of the event has grown and grown and we felt it was time for a review, with the increase in Shipston’s population and possible further growth in the future,’ says Rotary President Fay Ivens. ‘Holding the event on a Sunday will allow a longer shopping and entertainment time for both the stallholders and shoppers, with more events throughout the afternoon and the grand switch on of the town lights and Tree of Life lights at 5pm. Gone will be the rush to do your weekend shopping on the Friday morning before the town centre closes for traffic and gone will be our problem of fitting everything in during two hours. There will be a build up to the lights going on and you will have another hour to admire them and complete your purchases.’
She assures us that there will still be the pig roast, the choir, the town band and of course Santa in his grotto – all highlights of a treasured annual event that has raised thousands for charity.
